Moving to the UK from Australia

The Youth Mobility Scheme now runs to age 35 with a three-year stay, and Skilled Worker and Ancestry routes cover the rest. Here is how Australians make the move work.

Australia's free trade agreement with the UK widened the door considerably: Australians aged 18 to 35 can take the Youth Mobility Scheme visa for up to three years, no sponsorship needed. Older or staying longer, the Skilled Worker visa and UK Ancestry visa (for those with a UK-born grandparent) are the main routes.

The admin stack is front-loaded: visa fees, the Immigration Health Surcharge paid upfront for NHS access, then National Insurance number, UK bank account and a rental market where speed wins. These guides sequence it properly, including what to do with your super while you are away.
